Spring Update 2007
Posted in general | April 25th, 2007Now’s a good time as any to give an update on my situation. Career wise, things have taken an almost unexpected turn for the better, as the agency I currently work for is growing fast, as does it’s benefits. I have turned down some interesting offers but I feel that here is where I am most likely to grow in the next year.
I’m still doing some freelance work on the side, which unfortunately takes away from my personal projects, but these gigs will become less necessairy, given my new situation at work.
As far as personal projects go, I haven’t been as out and about as I used to, these past two years. I haven’t done much music related design work and have shied away from collaborative projects. I’ve instead tried to focus on my comics and drawing.
The online Zombie Commandos comic has reached the end of it’s initial momentum. I have not produced any new pages to keep up with the weekly schedule. I did refine the script and worked on new character designs, but I must pause the ongoing story for the summer, to give myself time to revamp the site into a more functional site, complete with new weekly pages and a prequel of sorts, appended to it’s beginning. With my acquisition of the exciting new Adobe Flash CS3 software, I have some fun new ideas to incorporate into the site. I’ve had the opportunity to work on some new web technologies at work, so I’m looking forward to applying these to my own projects.
Another long overdue thing I’ve started doing is working on my actual drawing skills, beyond comics. I’ll post some of my sketches online throughout this summer. I’ve also ventured into… sculpture! I was inspired by my zombie conspirator Jeff Gaither’s work with Super Sculpey, a synthetic clay used in special f/x. My first project is coming along nicely. I decided to start with an Ultrazombie, straight out of my online comic!
That’s about all for now, this is a period of research and catching up. Stay lively, folks.
