As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of Image’s The Walking Dead. I unfortunately only started buying the series at number 3. I’d like to get my hands on issues 1 and 2. According to an online comic price guide, these 2 comics are actually worth more than the first two issues of Marvel’s Wolverine! (which I do own, with all of them until the series restarted).
Anyway, I would be happy to trade with anyone willing to meet up within the general area of Montreal or Ottawa, to obtain these two books. I would even be willing to let go of some of those 1970’s era Fantastic Four issues I mentioned earlier. I have about 8000 or so comics, with a heap or 70’s comics, some 60’s (Marvel and DC) and many rare indie books. I don’t care as much for superheroes as I used to as a teen, so these days I’m mostly interested in getting those Walking Dead books and eventually completing my run of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles books (which I doubt will happen, with issue one going for at least 4000.00$), so I’d be interested in Turtle books too. Drop me a message if interested!

Today I return to work… Too soon but then it’s good to be hacking away at websites too. I’ve seen some of my hometown friends (Jas, Ade, Etienne in Gatineau), walked around Ottawa digging for comics and having pints of Guiness on the Market, got a visit from my cousin from Edmonton (rocking out at Foufounes Electriques), had a great time with Erika at the Biodôme in Montreal, the Bromont water park, La Ronde (finally got to try the Goliath roller coaster!), walking around Mont Royal and St-Denis street, having sushi and pizza, checking out the Just For Laughs festival, lounging around the swimming pool in Cowansville and had an awesome time at Lake Champlain in Vermont with Sylvie, Erik, Martin, Nath and Erika :)

Today I stopped by a used bookstore in Ottawa, just to check out some sci-fi books and happened upon a dusty comic book box in a corner.
Lo and behold! It contained a whole series of issues of the original Fantastic Four! I picked up a bunch of issues ranging between #148 and #186. The 150th issue alone is worth around 45$ and I paid these books a dollar each :) Not to mention that these make some nice vacation reading material. Ironicaly, I was hoping to find some old TMNT issues instead ;)

Well Summer is finally here, I wore my bermuda shorts for the first time this year this past weekend. The temperature shot up to 30°C and its incredibly humid around Montreal when it gets hot. Good thing I keep a shaved head!
I’m close to finishing one of my website gigs which has taken up so much of my time the last two months but I have another one coming up which I hope to wrap up by mid July. I really don’t want to take on anymore gigs this summer, as I’d like to concentrate on learning to paint in Corel Painter this summer, and get back to my Zombie Commandos comic. I hate the feeling I get when I don’t draw often enough, and I have to resist the temptation of revamping my websites again.
I see a lot of people are checking out my work but not many are leaving me any feedback, so come on! Let me know what you think… Feedback is my fuel, as with every other artist :)

You will probably have noticed, if you’ve been familiar with this website for a while, that this latest incarnation of Raisinlove.com (aka v.08) has been much more experimental than the previous versions. While I’ve been using Wordpress as my basic platform since I first included a news section back in 2001 (the blog software was then called B2), this is the first time I’ve used the blog itself to present my portfolio.
Taking advantage of the patchwork layout, I’ve been including various Worpress plugins, such as using my Flickr account to cross-host and display my artwork and Twitter to act as a mini-blog for actual up-to-the-minute updates.
I’ve also been experimenting with various social networks such as Myspace, Facebook and Deviantart, along with a few others I don’t keep track of as much as the others.
So my latest find has been playlist.com. You’ll see in the sidebar that I’ve already added a music player which uses this service. I’ll be adding tracks to it on a regular basis hopefully, If I don’t get bored of it too quickly that is !

Ok so the warm season is just around the corner and like every year, I’m full of ideas!
As usual, I have taken on too many commitments to work on just my own work and I don’t dedicate as much time to these as I used to. However, here’s my list of things to do and things I want to do. This is mostly just a reminder for myself but this also gives you an idea of how my time is filled when I’m not working at the office or spending time with my girl.
TO DO
- Finish website gigs. Ongoing and time consuming so I just cannot take on anymore until next winter.
- Finish tattoo designs for friends. Shouldn’t take that long but still must find the time.
- Finish Zombie Commandos From Hell! current episode. AAAARRRGGG!!!
- Publish Zombie Commandos From Hell! Episode 5 online as a prequel to the current online Episode 6.
PROJECTS
- Futuristic comic with Steve Murphy (LOTS of ideas brewing for this right now!)
- Eventual epic sci-fi book with my friend Inkorporat (project so massive it’s intimidating unfortunately)
- Music videos, now that I’m having fun experimenting with Adobe After Effects.
- Learning to truly paint with my Wacom tablet and Painter X + Photoshop

“Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals,” said Turner, 69. “Civilization will have broken down. The few people left will be living in a failed state — like Somalia or Sudan — and living conditions will be intolerable.”
One way to combat global warming, Turner said, is to stabilize the population.
“We’re too many people; that’s why we have global warming,” he said. “Too many people are using too much stuff.”"

A small used book store opened around my block a few months ago and I only decided to check it out this past Saturday. While my girlfriend checked out some books, I venture around, hoping there might be some old comics in a box somewhere. Bingo! There it was… I didn’t have much hope of finding anything good but I always keep an eye out for some original TMNT comics (maybe someday I’ll complete my collection of all the Mirage books). WHAMO! I find TMNT Volume 1, #33! I didn’t have this issue featuring Richard Corben’s art! I dug a little further to find more TMNT but instead found this “VERY GOOD” grade copy of an authentic issue of the Incredible Hulk circa 1969 :) And I only paid 1$ for it! I’m definitely going to keep my eyes peeled from now on….

Check out my buddy’s awesome new website! He’s a great Montreal based photographer, responsible for those sweet shots he did of me and Erika.
